CSR veteran to steer company’s community engagement and inclusive development agenda
Shree Cement, one of India’s leading cement manufacturers, has announced the appointment of Vishal Bhardwaj as its new Head – Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Bhardwaj brings close to three decades of experience in designing and executing impactful CSR programmes across India and overseas.
Before joining Shree Cement, Bhardwaj served as Group CSR Head at Indorama Corporation, based in Dubai, where he led the group’s global CSR portfolio across sectors including cement, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals. Known for his grassroots focus and commitment to inclusive development, he is expected to play a key role in scaling Shree Cement’s social impact initiatives.
In his new role, Bhardwaj will lead the company’s CSR strategy, strengthen implementation frameworks, and foster partnerships aimed at delivering high-quality, measurable outcomes aligned with national priorities.
Welcoming the appointment, Neeraj Akhoury, Managing Director, Shree Cement, said, “At Shree Cement, we view social responsibility as an essential pillar of our business philosophy. Vishal’s global experience and local sensitivity will be vital in strengthening our social investment agenda and deepening community engagement.”
Bhardwaj commented, “I am honoured to join Shree Cement, a company with a strong legacy of nation-building and community focus. I look forward to co-creating innovative, inclusive and high-impact CSR programmes that empower people and create long-term social value.”
Shree Cement’s CSR efforts currently reach over 6.7 lakh individuals and align closely with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The company’s initiatives span healthcare, education, rural infrastructure, women empowerment, and environmental sustainability, implemented through the Shree Foundation Trust.
Key programmes include mobile health units, education support through scholarships and school infrastructure upgrades, vocational training for women, and financial support to families under the Sukanya and marriage assistance schemes.
Under ‘Project Naman’, launched in 2021, Shree Cement also provides free cement to families of armed forces personnel martyred in the last 20 years – supporting home construction on plots of up to 4,000 sq. ft., as a tribute to their service.
