Company aims to achieve its mission of 12,000 MW by 2026 and its shared vision of 25,000 MW by 2030 and 50,000 MW installed capacity by 2040
A major 100 MW solar project worth Rs 550 crore was won by state-owned SJVN in an e-reverse auction run by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam. According to a business release, SJVN will carry out the ground-mounted solar project through its wholly-owned subsidiary, SJVN Green Energy Ltd. (SGEL), at an anticipated cost of Rs 550 crore. SJVN won the 100 MW solar project at Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam through a tariff-based competitive bidding process, at a cost of Rs 2.63/unit on a build-own-operate basis.
After the Power Purchase Agreement is signed, the project is expected to be completed in 18 months (PPA). The 25-year PPA will be signed by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam and SGEL. According to preliminary projections, the solar project will produce over 252 million units of electricity in its first year of operation and over the course of 25 years, it will generate about 5,866 million units of energy in total.
With the commissioning of this solar project, India will be able to contribute to its renewable energy capacity and reduce its carbon emissions by 2,87,434 tonnes. With 1,860 MW currently under construction, 3,051 MW at various phases of implementation and 179.5 MW currently in operation, SJVN’s total solar and wind portfolio now stands at an 5,090.5 MW.
Motivated by lofty objectives, SJVN hopes to attain 12,000 MW by 2026. By 2040, it hopes to have installed 50,000 MW, a shared vision of 25,000 MW by 2030.
