Patna led the surge, with queries rising to 11 times higher YoY, followed by Delhi at a 7x increase

India’s accelerating solar transition is reflecting strongly in consumer behaviour. Between April- June 2025, online searches for solar panel dealers surged 173 per cent  year-on-year (YoY) and 77 per cent quarter-on-quarter (QoQ), while queries for panel cleaning services doubled across the country, according to Justdial insights.

Patna led the surge, with queries rising to 11 times higher YoY, followed by Delhi at a 7x increase, while Patna saw searches grow 19 times compared to the previous quarter. Indore reported 197 per cent YoY growth and a threefold QoQ increase, while Jaipur posted a 109 per cent sequential jump. Pune followed with 133 per cent YoY and 53 per cent QoQ growth. Other key markets such as Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Lucknow also registered strong momentum.

On the maintenance front, solar panel cleaning services saw demand rise sharply. Delhi recorded a 92 per cent increase, Lucknow 77 per cent, Ahmedabad 63 per cent, and Vadodara 43 per cent. Analysts say this shift underscores rising consumer awareness of efficiency and long-term durability in solar investments.

The behavioural spike coincides with India achieving 100 GW of domestic solar PV manufacturing capacity in 2025, a remarkable leap from just 2.3 GW in 2014. The Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme has been a critical driver of this scale-up, positioning India as a global hub for solar manufacturing.

The alignment of consumer demand with manufacturing expansion is being seen as a strong signal of India’s renewable energy future. Coming on the occasion of Akshay Urja Diwas, the momentum reinforces the country’s transition to clean energy adoption at scale.
