STL, Hygenco Collaborate on Game-Changing Green Hydrogen Partnership

As an economically feasible replacement for grey hydrogen, Hygenco is leading the industry’s shift to green hydrogen. By working together, Hygenco and Sterlite Technologies (STL) are taking a bold step towards sustainability and empowering STL’s industrial facilities with the power of green hydrogen

STL has entered into a collaboration with Hygenco, a local provider of green hydrogen solutions to supply green hydrogen to its manufacturing locations. The sustainability actions of STL may change as a result of this strategic partnership.

As an economically feasible replacement for grey hydrogen, Hygenco is leading the industry’s shift to green hydrogen. By working together, Hygenco and STL are taking a bold step towards sustainability and empowering STL’s industrial facilities with the power of green hydrogen.

The CEO of Hygenco India, Amit Bansal, expresses confidence that their approach will significantly benefit STL. He is to see STL leading the way in the optical fibre industry’s green hydrogen journey and enabling a greener internet.

Precision engineering, photonics, and materials science are STL’s strengths. Their Industry 4.0-enabled Glass Preform Plant in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, is devoted to producing Glass Preforms, which are crucial parts for the fabrication of high-quality optical fibre.

Gases like hydrogen and oxygen are notoriously difficult to decarbonise in the optical fibre value chain. However, STL and Hygenco have made a bold commitment to reduce carbon emissions by about 30 per cent yearly through their ambitious Green Hydrogen effort.

Hygenco will introduce electrolysers that employ renewable energy instead of the conventional energy sources STL now uses, enabling STL to manufacture its hydrogen. This increases effectiveness and lowers potential risks related to buying hydrogen in cylinders. Real-time monitoring and autonomous energy management will be incorporated into the system to further enhance performance
