Sustainability In Focus As Johnson Controls Hitachi Hosts ‘Xchange’ For Architects, HVAC Experts In Mumbai

With India poised to become a USD 5 trillion economy, infrastructure development is picking up pace across the country. Maharashtra, in particular, is at the forefront of this transformation as it pushes towards a USD 1 trillion economic milestone, with rapid urbanisation and green real estate projects gaining momentum.

Against this backdrop, Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning India organised its ‘Hitachi Xchange Program’ in Mumbai – a thought leadership workshop aimed at architects and HVAC consultants. The event focused on building stronger industry ties and advancing sustainable, energy-efficient air conditioning solutions powered by the latest Japanese technologies.

The workshop served as a platform for professionals to engage in meaningful dialogue on the role of advanced HVAC systems in sustainable urban planning. It also highlighted Hitachi’s commitment to the Make in India initiative and Atmanirbhar Bharat, with showcases of its world-class manufacturing capabilities, global development centre, and cutting-edge lab infrastructure.

“Hitachi Xchange in Mumbai is a step towards strengthening the region’s energy-efficient cooling solutions and HVAC ecosystem,” said Rajesh Nagari, Senior Vice President, Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning India. “With a collaborative effort among industry leaders, HVAC consultants, and architects, we can enhance HVAC efficiency across commercial and residential projects.”

The Mumbai edition is part of a broader pan-India initiative that aims to engage over 600 architects and consultants across key cities. The goal: to foster knowledge sharing and spark collaboration that leads to smarter, greener infrastructure.

“At Johnson Controls-Hitachi, we believe that innovation in HVAC solutions is key to building a sustainable future,” said Hariharan Balasubramaniam, Vice President. “This workshop bridges the gap between the architects and HVAC consultants of the region and empowers them to create energy-efficient solutions for a sustainable future.”

HVAC consultants and engineers welcomed the initiative as a timely push towards responsible cooling solutions.

“Thanks to initiatives like the Hitachi Xchange program, we are able to recognise the vital role we can play in shaping sustainable urban environments,” said Gautham Baliga, Director, Opal HVAC Engineers Pvt, Mumbai, and R.S. Kulkarni, HVACR Consulting Engineers, Pune. “These initiatives are pivotal in collaborating with industry leaders and architects to innovate and implement sustainable cooling methods.”
