Suzlon Joins RE100, Targets Fully Renewable Power By 2030

Pune-based Suzlon Group has become the first Indian energy company to commit to powering all its manufacturing facilities with 100 per cent renewable energy by 2030, joining the global RE100 initiative led by Climate Group and CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project).

The country’s largest wind energy solutions provider said the move aligns with its broader decarbonisation roadmap, which includes achieving carbon neutrality (Scope 1 and 2 emissions) by 2035 and net zero (Scope 1, 2 and 3) by 2040.

“Joining RE100 is a powerful affirmation of our belief that true leadership in renewable energy begins at home in how we run our own operations,” said JP Chalasani, CEO of Suzlon Group. “We are not just delivering clean power to the world; we are ensuring that every megawatt we produce is backed by a manufacturing process powered entirely by renewables” added Chalasani.

Suzlon operates 15 manufacturing facilities across India. Over the past year, it achieved 92.87 per cent carbon neutrality at the plant level, with its rotor blade unit in Dhule already powered entirely by renewables. The company also reported a 17.19 per cent reduction in energy intensity compared to FY24, alongside an 88.51 per cent cut in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emission intensity. Renewable energy consumption increased by 80.7 per cent year-on-year.

RE100 brings together more than 400 global corporations committed to transitioning to 100 per cent renewable electricity. Suzlon joins as the first Indian energy sector “Gold Member,” underscoring its role in advancing sustainable manufacturing practices.
