Tata Plans To Introduce Four Additional Electric Vehicles by 2025 Following the Punch EV Inauguration
The next in line will be the Harrier EV SUV, closely based on the Harrier EV concept shown at the Auto Expo last year
Tata Motors is set to expand its presence in the mass-market electric vehicle (EV) segment with the inauguration of four new EVs by late 2022. Building on its success with models like the Tigor EV, Nexon EV, Tiago EV, and the recently introduced Punch EV, Tata Motors aims to further solidify its position in the Indian EV market.
The upcoming EVs, named Curvv, Harrier, Sierra, and Altroz, are all based on Tata Motors’ Acti.EV architecture, reflects the company’s commitment to sustainable mobility. The Curvv EV, positioned as the next SUV in Tata’s EV lineup, is poised to compete with the Hyundai Creta EV, slated for an early release next year. Featuring a four-door SUV-coupe body style, the Curvv EV is strategically planned to hit the market ahead of its internal combustion engine counterparts, allowing Tata to establish a foothold in the midsize EV SUV segment.
Following closely is the Harrier EV SUV, drawing inspiration from the Harrier EV concept showcased at the previous year’s Auto Expo. While the Harrier EV retains the Land Rover-derived Omega architecture used in its internal combustion engine counterpart, it incorporates Tata’s Gen 2 EV architecture, marking a significant move towards electrification. The Harrier EV is scheduled for release later this year, preceding the launch of the long-awaited Harrier turbo-petrol variant.
Looking ahead to 2025, Tata Motors has ambitious plans to introduce the Sierra EV and the Altroz EV. These developments underscore Tata’s commitment to staying at the forefront of the evolving EV landscape in India. With these strategic launches, Tata Motors aims to cater to the growing demand for electric vehicles and contribute to the country’s sustainable mobility goals.
