Uber’s New Feature To Track CO2 Emissions Saved On Every Uber Green Ride

Uber  on March 12 set forth a new feature called ‘Emission Savings’, aimed at providing riders with visibility on their contribution to reducing carbon emissions while riding with Uber

This feature, available in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, allows riders to track how many kilograms of CO2 emissions they saved by opting for Uber Green vehicles, which are all-electric. The initiative is part of Uber’s efforts to encourage sustainable choices and promote a low-emissions lifestyle among riders.

Nitish Bhushan, Head of Central Operations at Uber India, highlighted the importance of providing riders with insight into their environmental impact and empowering them to make informed decisions about sustainability. The Emission Savings feature is designed to offer riders a tangible measure of their contribution to the environment with each ride.

Similar to Uber’s rider rating system, Emission Savings adds a fun and engaging aspect to promoting environmental consciousness among riders. Riders can now tap on the “Estimated CO2 saved” button in the Account section of the Uber app to view their emissions savings. Additionally, the feature includes a graphic that illustrates the significance of their CO2 emission savings, making it easier for riders to understand the impact of their choices.

The emissions savings for an Uber Green trip represent the estimated amount of CO2 emissions avoided compared to an Uber Premier trip of the same distance. Uber aims to become a zero-emissions mobility platform, and the launch of the Emission Savings feature marks an important step in this direction by informing riders about their positive impact on the environment and encouraging sustainable transportation choices.
