UP Floods Displace Over 6 Lakh, Crisis Deepens

Ganga is flowing above the danger level in Hapur, Budaun, Farrukhabad and Ballia, and near the danger mark in Bulandshahr.

36 districts of Uttar Pradesh have been declared flood-affected, impacting 6,42,913 people, according to the state relief commissioner’s office. Data from the UP irrigation and water resources department shows major rivers, including the Ganga, Ghaghara, Sharda, and Ramganga, flowing above or near danger levels in multiple regions.

The Ganga is above the danger mark in Hapur, Budaun, Farrukhabad, and Ballia, and near it in Bulandshahr. The Sharda is near danger level in Lakhimpur Kheri, while the Ghaghara is above the mark in Barabanki, Ayodhya, and Ballia. The Ramganga is above danger level in Moradabad and near it in Shahjahanpur.

Floodwaters have inundated 1,877 villages and affected 61,852 hectares of agricultural land. The government has deployed 2,610 boats and motorboats for relief and rescue operations, alongside distributing relief materials and chlorine tablets.

The affected districts are Bahraich, Barabanki, Ballia, Basti, Bijnor, Budaun, Chandauli, Chitrakoot, Farrukhabad, Ghazipur, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Hapur, Hardoi, Kasganj, Lakhimpur Kheri, Meerut, Mirzapur, Prayagraj, Shahjahanpur, Shravasti, Varanasi, Agra, Auraiya, Banda, Etawah, Fatehpur, Hamirpur, Jalaun, Bhadohi, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Nagar, Ayodhya, Moradabad, Muzaffarnagar, and Unnao.
