Uttar Pradesh Reaches 1 GW Solar Power Milestone Under PM Suryaghar Scheme

Uttar Pradesh has reached a notable milestone in renewable energy, achieving 1 gigawatt of solar power capacity under the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar: Free Electricity Scheme.

The installation of solar rooftop plants on approximately 290,000 homes across the state has contributed to this achievement. The scheme has led to the conservation of around 4,000 acres of land, which can be utilized for other purposes.

The Centre and State Governments have provided subsidies worth Rs 2,000 crore and Rs 600 crore, respectively, for the installed plants. The scheme has generated approximately 50,000 jobs in solar panel manufacturing, installation, and maintenance sectors.

The number of registered vendors has increased from 81 to 4,200, facilitating the implementation of the scheme. Uttar Pradesh’s progress in solar energy is seen as a significant development in the country’s clean energy efforts.
