Varaha, a leading carbon removal developer in Asia, has sold over 60,000 tonne of carbon credits to Denmark-based Klimate across five contracts. These credits, generated from biochar and afforestation projects in India and Nepal, highlight Varaha’s expertise in offering both technology-driven and nature-based solutions to global buyers.
Valued at several million dollars, this deal solidifies Varaha’s reputation as a trusted partner for companies like Klimate, which seeks scalable, high-integrity credits for its clients. The sale follows Varaha’s recent success with a 100,000-credit deal with Google in January 2025, marking a significant milestone for carbon credit sales in India.
Madhur Jain, CEO and co-founder of Varaha, stated, “Our ongoing relationship with Klimate reflects the trust buyers place in our platform. Through diverse projects and strategic partnerships, we’re scaling impactful climate solutions that benefit both the environment and local communities.”
Simon Bager, CIO and co-founder of Klimate, added, “Varaha is a key partner in providing our clients with reliable, diverse carbon removal options, and their local expertise ensures high-impact solutions in the South Asia region.”
With growing demand for carbon credits, Varaha continues to play a pivotal role in advancing global climate goals.
