Vingroup Signs $3 Bn MoU With Telangana For Multi-sector Ecosystem
Smart City, EV Fleet, Solar Project And Tourism Hub Planned Across 2,500 Hectares
Vingroup has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Telangana for a proposed phased investment of USD 3 billion to build a wide multi-sector ecosystem in the state. The agreement, signed at the Telangana Rising Global Summit, covers cooperation in smart urban development, electric mobility, healthcare, education, tourism, renewable energy, charging infrastructure and strategic connectivity.
A major part of the plan is the proposed Vinhomes Smart City on a 1,080-hectare site designed for about 200,000 residents. The project, expected to create nearly 10,000 jobs, will offer a mix of high-rise and low-rise housing supported by social amenities and sustainable design principles. The group will also develop about 70 hectares of social infrastructure, including a Vinschool K-12 campus, a Vinmec multi-specialty hospital and the V-Green charging network.
In electric mobility, Vingroup intends to introduce India’s first large-scale electric taxi fleet in Telangana through GSM using VinFast vehicles. The group may evaluate future opportunities linked to electric vehicle manufacturing.
Tourism plans include a 350-hectare VinWonders complex consisting of a theme park, zoo and safari. In renewable energy, VinEnergo proposes to invest in a 500 MW solar farm over about 500 hectares to support urban centres, industrial hubs and the broader electric mobility ecosystem. The state government will support land identification, master planning, administrative clearances and connecting infrastructure, and will examine incentives under existing policies.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said the investment reinforces Telangana’s focus on sustainable development and green mobility. Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu said the partnership reflects the stability of the state’s industrial policy. Pham Sanh Chau, Chief Executive Officer, Vingroup Asia and VinFast Asia, said the group aims to build a long-term partnership that creates lasting value for residents.
Telangana has grown into a major technology and economic centre in southern India. Vingroup, Vietnam’s largest private multi-sector corporation, continues to extend its global footprint, including its ongoing electric mobility push in India.
